It’s been a whole week since we held our second Twitter tasting on our new bespoke @wishkyhour profile.
There were about eleven whisky fans taking part this time trying the lovely little dram we sent them. These tweet tastings are designed to get people to try new whiskies blind, engage with fellow whisky lovers and see what they can get from the dram. Then after some back and forth guesses we reveal what whisky it was.
So, what was it?
The great tasting whisky last week was…. the very pleasing Kilchoman Machir Bay, a great single malt whisky from Islay. Simply wonderful - everyone enjoyed it.
- Region: An Islay single malt from a distillery that began production in 2005.
- Appearance: A very pale whisky.
- Nose: Lemon and citrus with sweet smokey aromas.
- Palate: Vanilla and butterscotch with an intense sweet peaty aftertaste.
- Finish: Signature Kilchoman with a long lingering finish.
Did those that took part guess it right?
Heavily peated and matured in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels and sherry casks, Machir Bay is a classic peated Islay single malt. A complex combination of peat smoke, vanilla, tropical fruit and intense sweetness create a beautiful balance between spirit and cask maturation.
The Machir Bay is another award winner that we have had in our Twitter tasting, and a perfect example of the variety of great tasting whiskies we do within our subscription boxes too. Priced at around £42, we think it represents great value for money.
People like our Twitter tasting format. Even a few whisky bloggers take part in them. Why not read one of their blogs here.
